David Godwin is the Executive Director for the Literacy Initiative for Today (LIFT) Program
at the University of St. Thomas.
Prior to joining the University of St. Thomas, David worked in Public Health as a Program
Manager for State of Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Notable is his 30 years
as Tuberculosis Elimination Program Manager for DSHS, a public health region where he
directed Tuberculosis and Sexually Transmitted Disease initiatives for a 16county region. Under David’s leadership, there were significant reduction in rates for Tuberculosis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
